ANA and Boeing making history

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Boeing made history when, on April 16, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner flew for the first time partly powered by biofuel. The delivery flight of JA808A (c/n 34490) also marked the first transpacific flight of the B787. The biofuel were mainly derived from used cooking oil and emission were of an estimated 30% less.

First B747-400 F for Thai Airways

Thai Airways received its first Being 747-400F on March 30 and a second example in early April. The first aircrat, HS-TGJ, was withdrawn by the airline from passenger-carrying service in October 2011 and sent to conversion facilities in Hong Kong.

The freighter entered service on April 12 flying from Bangkok to Hyderabad en route to Frankfurt. The second 747-400F will connect Bangkok with Chennai and Amsterdam.

New Embraer E-170 for Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines has just signed an amendment to its original June 2007 deal with Brazilian manufacturer Embraer for ten E-170 and added another aircraft to the contract. The value of the deal is of $38 million. The jet, configured in a single-class layout with 76 seats, will be flown by J-AIR, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JAL. Delivery is planned for the last quarter of 2012.

First A350 Fuselage

Airbus has begun the final assembly stage of the first A350 XWB in its Toulouse plant. The joining of the forward and centre fuselage sections with the completed airframe will serve for static structural testing. The first A350 example, named MSN001, is expected to be built from the summer.

Sky Interior for Garuda Indonesia

The Indonesian carrier Garuda has taken delivery of its fourth Boeing 737-800 with the new Sky Interior, becoming the 300th aircraft fitted with the desgin. Since its introductio in October 2010, more than 65 airlines and leasing companies have chosen the Sky Interior design.

4000th B737 next generation delivered

Boeing executives and more than 500 employees, union representative, partners and suppliers together with government officials joined China Southenr Airlines in April to celebrate the delivery of the 4000th Next Generation B737.

The aircraft is the 75th purchased by the Chinese carrier, which has an additional order for 45 B737-700/800.
