British Airways' A380 and B787

British Airways will receive its first Airbus A380 in July 2013. The flag carrier plans to introduce the superjumbo online for 2014 winter. May 2013 will see the delivery of BA's first B787.
The airline has placed order for 12 A380 and 24 B787.

Singapore Airlines launching its low-cost long-haul carrier, Scoot

Singapore Airlines launched in June 2012 its low-cost long-haul subsidiary, named Scoot

On June 5, 2012, the first Scoot Boeing 777 landed at Sydney's Kingston International Airport.
The no-frills Singapore Airlines's subsidiary is offering flights to Sydney, Gold Coast and Bangkok.
Tianjin will be served from late august, Taipei from September and Tokyo from October.

First Airbus A380 for Thai Airways International

The first Thai Airways International Airbus A380-800 has been rolled out of Airbus paint facility in Hamburg Germany. The aircraft will undergo ground and flight testing before being deliveried to its new owner.

Alitalia phasing out MD-82

Italian national carrier Alitalia has annouced it will phase out its remaining MD-82s by the end of 2013. Currently the airline operates eleven examples. Six aircraft have been already phased out this year.

LAN B787 routes revealed


The Chilean carrier LAN has revealed its first airportS to be served by the newly-aquired B787. These cities will be: Buenos Aires, Lima, Los Angeles, Madrid and Frankfurt.
The delivery of the first 26 B787 is expected for late 2012. The aircraft will be powered by Rolls Royce Trent 1000, and will all be configured with 217 Economy seats and 30 Business class seats.
